Your strategy isn't stalling because of the strategy

It's stalling because of the conversations your team isn't having.

Reqlarity works with leadership teams in New Zealand businesses with 10 to 200 people. We start with the skill that makes everything else work: the ability to have the conversations that matter, clearly and without damage. When your people can do that, strategy sticks, alignment holds, and momentum builds.

Most business friction can be traced back to one source

An avoidable disaster strikes because someone in the know didn't speak up. A hard conversation gets softened to the point of ambiguity, so nothing changes. A poor decision was made when nobody who knew better pushed back, because pushing back felt too risky.

These scenarios aren't the result of fundamental personality flaws. They are the result of a widespread skill gap, and they show up everywhere: strategy and planning meetings that generate decisions nobody owns, in performance issues worked around instead of worked through, in leadership teams whose behaviours contradict their professed alignment.

On the surface these symptoms look like a strategy problem. Below the surface, the root cause is almost always a conversation problem. Or more accurately, a difficult conversation avoidance problem.

The Difficult Conversations Workshop

One day. Real conversations. Skills for life.

This is a full-day, facilitated workshop designed for leadership teams.

Participants work on actual conversations they have been avoiding, not made-up case studies.

By the end of the day, they have a framework they can use immediately, and the experience of having already used it.

The workshop is built for teams of five to fifteen people. It runs on-site or in a venue of your choice.

What you leave with:

  • A shared language for raising difficult issues without damage to relationships or authority.

  • Practised techniques for managing tension, defensiveness, and emotional charge in real time.

  • A clear view of which conversations your team has been avoiding and why.

  • The confidence and skills to navigate difficult conversations.

Once your team can have the hard conversations, everything else gets much easier

Most of our other work begins where the Difficult Conversations workshop ends. When a leadership team can speak plainly, disagree well, and commit clearly, the conditions exist to do serious strategy work. Here is what that can look like.

Map Your Strategy A one-day diagnostic workshop that gives your leadership team a clear picture of where your strategy is strong, where it is thin, and what to work on first. Best used when you have alignment in the room but need a structured way to look at the business honestly.

Reqlarity works with a small number of clients at any one time

That's deliberate. The work requires real attention, and real attention doesn't scale. The businesses we work best with are New Zealand-based, between 10 and 200 people, and led by someone who already suspects that the problem runs deeper than the symptoms suggest. You don't need to have it diagnosed yet. You do need to be willing to look at it honestly.

This is probably for you if:

  • Your leadership team is experienced but struggles to have direct conversations with each other.

  • You've invested in strategy before and the results didn't hold.

  • You're carrying performance issues, alignment gaps, or cultural tension that hasn't responded to the usual fixes.

  • You want to build your team's capability, not create a dependency on a consultant.

This is probably not for you if:

  • You're looking for a facilitator to run a one-off offsite and hand you a document.

  • You want external validation for a decision already made.

  • You're not willing to be in the room when the hard work happens.

You'll be working with Richard. Here's what that means

Richard Quin has spent 20 years working inside and alongside New Zealand businesses, in strategy, leadership, and organisational change. He built Reqlarity to do the opposite of what most consultancies do: work with fewer clients, go deeper, and leave them less reliant on outside help than when they arrived. He works with a small number of organisations at any time. If you're one of them, you get his full attention.
